If you remember in movies and books about medieval times, an impregnable castle was most often invaded when someone on the inside threw a rope over the wall or opened the gate. When someone on your network clicks a link to a malicious website or program, your school “computer castle” is now compromised and there is nothing you can do about it.

It often took one disgruntled serf to cause the fall of a whole castle, now one ignorant surf can do the same thing at your school and cost you a lot of money.

Vicki Davis,

This is why I TEACH students about malware, phishing scams, viruses, and how to set secure passwords. In the long run, it SAVES YOU MONEY and saves them headaches as well. If you’re not talking about digital citizenship, you should be.
