Cool Cat Teacher on Tumblr

13 notes &

Anybody ever have a student trash you on online and find out?

revolutionizeed:

Someone just pointed out a nice Twitter post about me!  When I didn’t like teachers in high school, I just whispered in the hallways about it!

Edit: I agree with summerinphilly, it does tell me a lot about the student as opposed to anything about my own teaching!

People who don’t have the savvy to know nothing is private online will suffer in real life. I always mention to students if I find out in a public way even if I am not the teacher involved. There is a way to handle it but I think up front is best.

  5. fortunenglory answered: It might be easy to take it personally, but don’t. It’s just a kid being a kid. Shrug it off and move forward.
  6. kerrsplat answered: One tried to trash talk about me on Twitter during my class. That did not end well.
  7. jim7962 answered: Not yet…..it’s all been positive, I think. But if I did, I’m not sure how I would handle it. Ignore it or let parents know kid wrote it.
  8. tomes-away said: Oh yes, they frequently take to twitter to complain about the class. A quick twitter search of my name has yielded teachable moments about online anonymity as well as the importance of not making your picture your icon, or using your full name either
  9. summerinphilly answered: I found one on trash me on Twitter, one on Instagram, it tells me more about them than about me. Keep your eyes open, my deadlines are comin’
